Ski Xmas day at Alder Creek Gorge

December 25th, 2010

My wife and I skied the Rim Tr., Short Cut Tr. and the Glacier Tr. today, and for the lack of snow (4″ at most), it was quite good. It should be advised that if you have a pair of “rock” skis (skis that you don’t mind dinging up a little), to use them. The Short Cut seemed to have the best cover, perhaps because it’s in a little bowl. The more open the ridge (as on the Glacier Tr.) the less the cover. The little snow that is there has firmed up in the cold temps and provides a barely sufficient base, for what has been a ludicrously meager snowfall so far.

Anyone have any reports for Jackson Hill or the Canal Tr.?
